Let them eat cake... or cereal
Out of touch and not at all close to reality. If there was ever a need to be able to read a room, now would be it.
I thought this was a satire piece turned video from The Onion or perhaps a sketch from Saturday Night Live. It’s been a while since I stayed up to watch the sketch routines of SNL, but when I saw Kellogg’s Chair & CEO Gary Pilnick on CNBC telling us that he was proud of the new campaign of “cereal for dinner,” I realized I was not mistaken. We are truly in the Upside Down. I mean, what in the capitalism? What in the audacity? Honestly, just what the actual f*ck? Wow is all I can say after listening. It makes a great snack, and yes, I have had the occasional bowl of cereal for dinner when I was too tired to cook. I have done this and I know so many others have done this as well. However, there is a stark difference between choosing to have a bowl of cereal in order to battle the occasional feeling of tiredness at night and having cereal because you are pinching pennies and can’t afford much else. I will also add that a CEO of a company worth $19B with a $1.6B 2023 profit saying this and thinking this is a justifiable option adds more insult to injury.
